Flowers for Layla...

Recently I've been following @laylagrace on Twitter. For those of you who don't know the full story Layla Grace is a little two-year-old girl who passed away yesterday from stage 4 neuroblastoma - a huge tumor in her abdomen. She was completely healthy at her 15 month check-up and a month later was diagnosed with cancer. Her incredibly brave parents have tweeted and blogged all throughout her treatment and she has amassed a following of tens of thousands worldwide. I can't imagine how painful it would be to lose a child - I honestly think that I would lose my will to live if something happened to Addison. I held her last night and thought of Layla's parents whose arms must be aching to hold their little girl again and I thanked God for every second that Addison has been in our lives. I am thankful that Layla is no longer suffering and, as her parents said, "is now playing with the angels." Mandy over at Harper's Happenings came up with the idea of planting flowers this Saturday (the day of her memorial service) to honor Layla's life. It's still freezing at night here in Eastern Washington but we could plant something in a pot in-doors for now. So, Addison and I will head to town this weekend and get some pretty flowers in remembrance of a little girl that we never met but who touched our lives.

  1. I read about her passing yesterday & could only pray for her family & squeeze Brayden extra tight when I got him from school!!

This is such a sweet idea.
